Lecturing Educational Technology (related subjects in the Faculty of Education). Born in Bogotá (Colombia), Murcianica by adoption (Murcia, Spain). I am an educationalist by profession, a musicology student by hobby, a Doctor (PhD) by prescription 😉 … and a chatterbox by devotion.
From Murcia (although I am always halfway there when we are not in world pandemics), I work on specific aspects of research in Technology and Education. I try to see educational technology, but I always do so from the shore closest to education. That is my perspective, although sometimes I make “incursions” on the other shore.
I have done research stays in fascinating places all over the world (the KMi of the OU, the Learning and New Technologies research group of the Department of Education of the University of Oxford, the CENT of the UJI, the Graduate School of Education of the UC Berkeley, among others) and I maintain fluid relationships with many of my contacts from those stays and with many interesting people from many interesting places all over the world.
If you want to see some of the things I’ve written, there are here (publications)
I currently lead the Spanish team of the European project CUTIE (Competencies for University Teaching and Institutional Empowerment), the continuation of CUTE launched in 2023 and focused on the strategic development of digital teaching competence in higher education.
Since September 2025, I have been part of the COPLITELE-IA project (Flexible learning scenarios and strategies in connected environments based on educational co-design and generative AI), and I continue to collaborate in CoDiCri (Critical Digital Competence: towards agency for learning through open educational practices), which will run until 2026.
From December 2025, I will join AI LEARN – Norwegian Centre for Research on Artificial Intelligence and Learning, one of the six national AI centres funded by the Norwegian Government, aimed at advancing research and pedagogical reflection on the impact of artificial intelligence in education.
All this alongside unfunded projects and small adventures with wonderful colleagues around the world. To learn more about my research, visit the dedicated section of this website, RESEARCH.
In addition, I have the opportunity and honour of serving on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education, the Journal of New Approaches in Educational Research, the Development Editorial Board of the journal Educational Technology Research & Development (ETR&D), and the journal of my research group, the Revista Interuniversitaria de investigación en Tecnología Educativa.
